The North Carolina Battle of the Books program is a fun, quiz bowl-style competition designed to encourage reading in middle school. Students will be exposed to quality literature representing a wide variety of reading levels, viewpoints, and literary styles. Its history can be traced back to a 1940s public radio program in Chicago.
Battle of the Books is open to all grade levels at Rogers-Herr. Students who are interested in participating should start reading the books on this year's list and memorizing the titles/authors. There will be an interest meeting on Tuesday, August 21, 2:30-3:30 in the Media Center.
Practices will be held most Tuesdays from 2:30-4:00, and the district competition will be held on Friday, February 22nd.
