The North Carolina Battle of the Books program is a fun, quiz bowl-style competition designed to encourage reading in middle school. Students will be exposed to quality literature representing a wide variety of reading levels, viewpoints, and literary styles. Its history can be traced back to a 1940s public radio program in Chicago.
Battle of the Books is open to all grade levels at Rogers-Herr. Students who are interested in participating should start reading the books on this year's list and memorizing the titles/authors.
The interest meeting took place on Tuesday, September 15. Slides from the interest meeting are located at this link, and please be sure to complete the application by the Monday, September 21 deadline to attend Tuesday's practice. Please contact Ms. Umbarger via email or Canvas if you have any questions.
