The North Carolina Battle of the Books program is a fun, quiz bowl-style competition designed to encourage reading in middle school. Students will be exposed to quality literature representing a wide variety of reading levels, viewpoints, and literary styles. Its history can be traced back to a 1940s public radio program in Chicago.
Battle of the Books is open to all grade levels at Rogers-Herr. Students who are interested in participating should start reading the books on this year's list and memorizing the titles/authors.
There was an interest meeting on Monday, Aug. 21, but it's not too late to join! Stop by the library for more information. Slides from the interest meeting are linked here. Signed contracts are due Monday, Aug. 28 for students to attend Monday's practice. Please contact Ms. Lee or Ms. Umbarger via email or Canvas if you have any questions.
